Ok, the last time I updated my blog I went full geek with the static site generator pages hosted on Github pages. This is a great approach for a blog that you never update! But I tired of the friction of having to remember exactly how to create new posts, and wondering if the publishing Github actions were gonna still work, etc… I was longing for a WYSIWYG editor despite my abiding fondness for markdown (the text part is fine, but embedding images is a PIA).
So now.. I’m back to WordPress! Which I forswore many, many years ago. In its defense WordPress is much much improved since then. In fact, I have to give credit to that team for the super slick onboarding, especially the pro-plan upsell with free domain! Click, buy, and your site is there on the domain in seconds. No fiddling with registrars and domain records?!? WUT!? Amazing.
